Each year, The Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs awards the Creative Teaching Grant to faculty members who promote instructional creativity and experimentation. We are pleased to invite you to a presentation by Dr. Sam Prough, the 2025 Creative Teaching Grant recipient, showcasing the impact of their funded project.
This presentation will highlight how Dr. Prough organized Family Math Nights at local elementary schools for Ball State students enrolled in the elementary math methods course. This provided an opportunity for our future educators to engage with local families about mathematics learning. Ball state students gained hands-on experiences in learning aspects of family engagement, planning appropriate games and activities, and then leading these activities in local elementary classrooms.
Dr. Prough's presentation will share:
- Examples of student-created activities
- Themes from student reflections
- Discussion on how the nature of Family Math Nights will be used for future teaching in math methods courses
Join us to learn how this Creative Teaching Grant project fostered a meaningful experience for our Ball State students. This presentation will be on October 2, 2026, from 2:00-3:00p.m., in Student Center 301-2.
