Your Voice Matters: Watch for the National Leadership Survey (MSL)

April 03, 2026

Ball State students will be invited to participate in the Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership (MSL), a nationally recognized survey used by leading universities to better understand student experiences, leadership development, and campus engagement.

MSL is part of a global, evidence-based initiative used by colleges and universities to understand how students grow, in areas like leadership, resilience, confidence, and civic engagement, and how institutions can better support that development.

If you receive the invitation, your participation is critical. Your responses play a direct role in shaping decisions that impact programs, opportunities, and the overall student experience at Ball State.

What to expect:

  • A brief pre-invitation email followed by your personalized survey link
  • Messages sent from msl@expandingleadership.org
  • 15–20 minutes to complete

All responses are confidential. Ball State receives only de-identified, aggregate data.

Why it matters:

  • Shape real improvements to student life and campus programs
  • Strengthen leadership and development opportunities for students
  • Contribute to a national research effort used by institutions and organizations worldwide
  • Help ensure Ball State can benchmark and improve alongside peer institutions

Faculty and staff: A quick reminder in class or through Canvas can significantly increase participation. Your encouragement helps ensure strong student representation.
