Ball State students!

As we're sure you already know, there is a presidential election this November. To make sure our voices are heard, students must register to vote! In Indiana, the Voter Registration deadline is Oct. 5th so be sure to register before then to cast your ballot this election cycle! Here is some important information about registering to vote and how to vote come election time!

First, you can check your registration status online! If you are an Indiana resident, you can check your registration status and register to vote by visiting Indianavoters.in.gov! Most other states offer online registration as well; for state specific information, visit Vote.gov. If you prefer, you can also print the Federal Voter Registration form from eac.gov (under the "Resources for Voters" headline), fill it out with your voter information, and mail it directly to your county clerk! Any forms postmarked on or before October 5th can be accepted. Please note, if you are a first-time voter who is registering to vote through mail-in form, you will need to present proof of residency at the polls when you cast your ballot!

Don't just stop there! Once you're registered to vote, make a plan to ensure your voice is heard!

If you want to vote by mail, you can visit Vote.gov or Indianavoters.in.gov to request an absentee ballot. Please note, Indiana is one of a handful of states that requires special circumstances in order to request an absentee! Make sure you apply for your absentee ballot by the October 22nd deadline! If you plan to vote in person, consider voting early! Early voting starts October 6th in Indiana and continues until November 2nd. When you go to vote in person make sure to bring an ID and proof of residency (the latter is only necessary if you are a first-time voter who registered to vote via mail).
