GIS resources available from the University Libraries are being used extensively in a large number of departments at Ball State University. Faculty in the department of History have fully embraced this spatial technology, and have incorporated it into their curriculum in both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In this presentation, Angela Gibson, GIS Specialist for the University Libraries, and HIST 633 graduate students, Emily McGuire and Cory Balkenbusch, will be discussing how learning basic mapping and analysis methods through the University Libraries led them to create an award-winning, interactive, mapping application using the ArcGIS Story Map application, and also to summer Research Assistantships using their GIS skills.
