This semester, University Libraries invites faculty to join a thought-provoking book club focused on the rapidly evolving world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its implications for higher education. Across four sessions, we’ll explore a series of books that range from alarmist to optimistic, speculative to practical—each selected to spark reflection, discussion, and dialogue about the role of AI in our personal and professional lives.
• October 23, 3:30-5:00pm, Bracken Library room 104: Help! My Toaster is Smarter Than Me! – A provocative, self-published book offering a highly critical view of AI’s impact. Please note: This book contains profane language.
• November 12, 3:00-4:30pm, Bracken Library room 104: The Educator’s Essential Guide to AI – A forward-looking and optimistic perspective on the benefits of AI in education.
• January 23, 1:00-2:30pm, Bracken Library room 104: The Opposite of Cheating – A more grounded, research-informed discussion on AI and academic integrity.
• February 19, 3:30-5:00pm, Bracken Library room 104: Teaching With AI – A practical guide for incorporating AI tools in the classroom with pedagogical intent.
