Tutoring jobs open for Fall 2023!

The Learning Center has several tutoring positions open for Fall 2023!

  • Tutors typically work 5-10 hours/week. The Learning Center is open for tutoring Monday – Thursday 10am-8pm, Friday 10am-2pm. Satellite drop-in tutoring centers are located on campus and have varying hours each semester.
  • Tutoring involves meeting one-on-one or in small groups with students for 50-minute tutoring sessions. Tutors help students understand the content and how to study effectively.
  • The wage starts at $10 and is raised to $12 after one full semester of tutoring and completion of training.

Listed below are the open undergraduate tutor positions currently posted to start in the Fall 2023 semester:

Business Tutor, #10495

You must be able to tutor all or most of the initial business courses: ACC 201, 202, BL 260, ECON 201, 202, ISOM 210, MATH 132. Preference will be given to students who can also tutor additional business courses, such as BA 205, ECON 221, FIN 300, ISOM 249, 351, MGT 300, MKG 300. 

Chemistry Tutor, #220

Chemistry tutors needed to work in the Learning Center and drop-in Satellite Center on campus. Students must be able to tutor CHEM 111 and 112. Preference will be given to applicants who can also tutor upper-level Chemistry courses. 

Biology Tutor, #219

Biology tutors needed to work in the Learning Center and drop-in Satellite Center on campus. Students must be able to tutor BIO 111 and 112. Preference will be given to those who can also tutor BIO 210, 214, and 215 and who can tutor additional courses outside of BIO courses. 

Computer Science Tutor, #191888

Must be able to tutor CS 110, 120, 121, and 124. Preference will be given to students who can also tutor other courses in CS or MATH. 

Math Tutor, #380

Math tutors needed to work in the Learning Center and drop-in Satellite Center on campus. Typical courses tutored: MATH 110, 112, 113/114, 125, 132, 161, 165, 166, 201, 202, as well as algebra, precalculus, and trigonometry courses. Preference will be given to applicants who can tutor MATH 125 and/or a wide range of Math courses. 

Nursing Tutor, #1173

Must be able to tutor ANAT 201, BIO 113, CHEM 101, and PHYS 215. Preference will be given to applicants who can also tutor NUR 230, 330, 340. 

Physics Tutor, #1488

Physics tutors needed to work in the Learning Center and drop-in Satellite Center. Must be able to tutor PHYC 110 or PHYC 120. Preference will be given to those who can also tutor PHYC 112 or 122. 

Japanese Tutor, #261552

Typical courses include JAPA 101, 102, 201, 202, 301, 302. Preference will be given to candidates who can tutor additional courses outside of JAPA courses. 

Sign Language Tutor, #10685

Must be able to tutor SNLN 251 and 252. Preference will be given to those who can also tutor SNLN 253, 254, and additional courses outside of SNLN courses. 

Steps to Employment

You must be a Ball State student with a GPA of 3.00 or higher, and you must have received an "A" or "B" in the course(s) you wish to tutor.

  • Visit the Cardinal Career Link website and search for the job number (listed with each position).
  • After applying through Cardinal Career Link, you will get a PDF referral emailed to you from the Career Center.
  • You will need to email your PDF referral to the Tutoring Coordinator and complete an application that will be emailed to you after you send your referral.
