Trimmer Prize Winners Announced

Congratulations to Grace Goze and Dorien Scheets, winners of the 2021 Joe and Carol Trimmer Awards for Outstanding Honors Thesis or Project.  Thanks to the generosity of Joe and Carol Trimmer, they are each the recipient of a $1,200 award. A committee appointed by the Dean of the Honors College selected these winners from a pool of seventeen applicants. 

Grace Goze is an English major with minors in French and history.  Her thesis, The Structure of "The Turn": Where Poetry and Comedy Collide, was selected as the creative project winner.  Katy Didden, assistant professor of in the Department of English was her project advisor.  Grace will graduate on May 8.

Dorien Scheets graduated in December 2020 with a bachelor of arts degree in anthropology and history with minors in Spanish and sociology.  Her thesis, Illuminating Herstories: Women of the Pimeria Alta in Spanish Colonial Missions, was selected as the research project winner.  Robert Phillips, assistant professor in the Department of Anthropology, was her project advisor. 

Joe Trimmer is Professor Emeritus of English and Director Emeritus of the Virginia Ball Center for Creative Inquiry.  The late Carol Trimmer served several years as outreach coordinator for Indiana Public Radio.
