Tiny Houses Design Project - Summer 2022

April 13, 2022

Tiny House Village Project

Students in this studio will partner with the Muncie Office of Community Development and design four variations of tiny homes that will make up a 60-home transitional housing development that will be built

No design experience necessary! We would love to have students from a variety of disciplines!

An estimated 150-200 people are considered “unsheltered” in Delaware County; homeless without receiving even temporary accommodation from an organization providing shelter services. Muncie struggles to provide adequate housing for its homeless population, and the economic and social impacts of the pandemic have only increased the need for transitional housing and related educational and health services. This studio offer students the opportunity to help ameliorate a local, real-world issue through tiny home design.

Final deliverables will include a full schematic construction set for each of the four designs. Students will visit transitional housing programs in Columbus, Ohio as well as have the opportunity to participate in future conference presentations of the studio experience.
