The United Way’s Support of Health and Wellness

November 16, 2020

Health and wellness have certainly been on the forefront of everyone’s mind for the better part of the last year, as we wade through the difficult waters of the COVID-19 Pandemic. United Way of Delaware, Randolph, and Henry Counties has been committed to community health for years, and 2020 is no exception. They have been helping families navigate the complex health care system through key strategies identified by health experts. In fact, in one year, United Way donors helped more than 17,000 people in Delaware County access services for primary and chronic conditions!

With proper follow-up, individuals can secure preventive care to ensure positive future health outcomes or maintain control over health challenges. Help in overcoming obstacles within the health care system can improve the quality of life for children and their families and save community resources in the long run.

Some of the many programs that help us work toward this goal include:

· The Nurse Family Partnership through Goodwill Industries that pairs first-time mothers with registered nurses for home visits from early pregnancy to the child’s second birthday.

· Open Door’s Mobile Health Unit and Diabetes Prevention Program that provide convenient medical services and disease prevention education.

· Senior Rides through LifeStream Services that provides transportation to the immobile and elderly, ensuring they are able to make it to doctor’s appointments.

Support from donors like you make it possible for individuals and families to take control of their health care and prevent costly trips to the emergency room or hospital.
