Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Jackie Davis will be serving as one of two new Assistant Vice Provosts of Research for the Office of Research. Please join me in congratulating Jackie in her new role as Assistant Vice Provost of Research Development and Sponsored Project Initiatives.
Jackie has been with Ball State and Sponsored Projects Administration for almost 19 years. She’s been the Director of Pre Award, Strategy, and Outreach at SPA since 2019, and throughout her time she has provided exceptional service to Ball State, our local community, and nationally in the field of Research Administration. Whether it is a simple question or a complex proposal situation, Jackie has demonstrated her knowledge, compassion, and service-oriented mindset as she assists the faculty, staff, and students at Ball State. She is well known throughout campus by Deans, Chairs, and faculty as the ultimate source for answers to questions regarding sponsored projects, start-ups and internal funding, outreach and incentive programs, and more.
Jackie is a Certified Research Administrator and also a two-time alumna of our institution, having received her BS in Biology in 2000, and her MA in Executive Development for Public Service in 2012. She is on track to finish her doctorate in Adult and Community Education in 2026.
In the role of AVPR, Jackie will support the Office of Research and the Vice Provost for Research with a broader eye to scholarship support and development across campus while still providing strong leadership for the Pre Award staff in SPA. In this new, expanded role, she will focus on developing data-informed strategies to build research capacity at our institution, as well initiatives to support faculty scholarship.
