Technology Resources for Classroom and Remote Teaching

August 20, 2020
Over the last few months, Information Technology has been working to add to our available hardware and software resources for your classroom and remote teaching.

Laptops
A camera-enabled laptop computer is a critical teaching tool for both in-person and remote instruction. If you do not currently have a laptop and you have a current teaching assignment, please let us know, and we will work through your department to make sure you have a capable system.

Webcams and Microphones
Information Technology is working with several of our vendors to provide webcams and microphones to faculty to use in their courses. To see the list of available webcams and microphones, as well as additional information about the request process and available technical support, please review this Knowledge Base article.

If you’d like to request a webcam or microphone for use in teaching, please visit the online Technology Help Desk and submit a request.

Software
We’ve recently added Zoom as an official Ball State online conferencing tool, in addition to WebEx and WebEx Training. To get started with Zoom, visit this Technology Helpdesk Knowledge Base article.

Later this semester, we’re launching Explain Everything, a virtual whiteboard application for your computer, tablet and smartphone. Look for further announcements from us in the near future.

Classroom Technology
For general questions about classroom technology support, visit the Information Technology website or call 765-285-3999.

We recommend you visit your classrooms this week, before the semester starts, in order to familiarize yourself with your classroom technologies. If you are teaching classes in any of the following classrooms, please contact the classroom coordinator to schedule a tour.

If you need more information or have questions about any of these technology services, please submit a request to the Technology HelpDesk or call us at 765-285-1517. You can also visit us in the Tech Center in Bracken Library, Room BL101.
