Summer 2021 - KIIS Morocco Program

Are you interested in seeing the world and learning more about other cultures and languages?

The KIIS 2021 Summer Program in Morocco provides a first-hand and unique experience of the linguistic, cultural, and ethnic diversity of Mediterranean Africa for students with interest in learning Arabic language and culture as well as Moroccan history, politics and religion. KIIS Morocco is an ideal context where you can immerse yourself into a multi-linguistic Arab society, with a noticeable European influence. The program will be based in the capital city of Rabat.

Students have will have the option of enrolling in 1-2 courses, all taught by Ball State Faculty.

1) Elementary and Intermediate Arabic will be offered by Program Director Dr. Abdel Bidaoui.

2) Dr. Robert Phillips will be teaching two courses: Anthropology of Religion in Morocco and Peoples & Cultures of Mediterranean Africa.

In addition to these course offerings, students will also participate in excursions to local sites including beaches, souks (local markets) and ancient Phoenician and Roman ruins. Longer overnight excursions will take students to the blue-washed city of Chefchauen, located in the Rif Mountains of northwest Morocco and Marrakech, the first of Morocco’s imperial cities.

Dates: June 18 - July 18, 2021

Cost: $3495 plus airfare - price includes up to 6-credits tuition, accommodations, two meals per weekday, group excursions and transport, Morocco airport transfers, security evacuation protection, and medical insurance. (Passport is extra).
