Both undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit a proposal to present their scholarly work, including creative pieces, research studies, and teaching materials. The proposal requires an abstract with a title (200 word max) and a brief bio (100 words max). Proposals can be submitted here by December 17, 2021. Submissions are open to all students who will be enrolled during the Spring 2022 semester in a college-level institution.
What is PCM?
Practical Criticism Midwest (PCM) is an academic student conference presented by The Ball State Department of English. PCM is a supportive conference environment where students can share their academic work with their peers. This year’s conference will be hybrid, which means presenters and attendees will have the choice to participate online or in-person.
How do I find the time?
You may feel too busy to submit right now (and we hear you!!). But please know that all you need to submit for consideration is a short bio and brief abstract by the December 17, 2021 deadline. You do not need to submit your entire paper, project, etc. right now.
What should I submit?
The theme of this year’s conference is The Anatomy of Narrative: A Body of Work. Please see the linked Call for Proposals for a list of topic ideas. This is by no means an exhaustive list – just a way to jumpstart your own ideas.
