Study Abroad -- not too late for Fall semester programs!

March 09, 2025

It's a great time to be thinking about studying abroad! Applications are still open for all Fall Semester and Academic Year study abroad programs (deadline March 15th for most programs)

See the full list of Fall programs HERE

Featured Fall Semester program abroad: BSU-in-Seoul, our signature study abroad program. BSU students, BSU faculty, BSU classes, for a full BSU semester abroad. The Fall '25 location is Seoul, South Korea. The coursework features five different courses in the UCC (core), making this program a potential great match for students from a wide variety of majors. The most exciting feature of this program is that it is NOT high cost!-- the program cost is comparable to an on-campus semester in Muncie.

Featured Fall Semester program in the USA: National Student Exchange (nse.org) a consortium of over 175 member campuses (including Ball State) across the USA & Canada. Ball State students can spend a semester or year away with NSE. Participants stay enrolled at Ball State but live and study at one of the member campuses—it's like a foreign exchange program, except it’s domestic.  The 175 campus options are in 49 states, plus Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Canada. Campuses include research institutions, liberal arts colleges, historically black colleges and universities (HBCU), Hispanic serving institutions (HSI), private schools, and Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-serving institutions (AANAPISI). Settings in big cities, small towns, islands, mountains and everything in between. This program is designed to be accessible to all BSU students. Students will continue paying their regular Ball State tuition and fees during their exchange (so in-state students here are still in-state there, even if the exchange is to Alaska). Room and board is the only item typically paid at the host school. The fee to participate is just $250.

Did you know-- MANY of our semester-long programs abroad are roughly cost-equivalent to a semester in Muncie? Please check out these programs we've identified as cost-equivalent, meaning that they should cost no more than 130% of the cost of the equivalent semester here, excluding flight.

What next? If you'd like more information about your study abroad options, we recommend signing up for 'Study Abroad 101' (next session March 19), which is a presentation that overviews studying abroad-- the process, choosing a program, timelines, costs, etc. You can also make an appointment to meet with a Study Abroad Advisor, who can spend time one-on-one with you, discussing the programs that interest you. You may also want to download the Student Guide to Study Abroad or visit our website. Please feel free to contact us at studyabroad@bsu.edu with any questions.
