Each April, colleges and universities across the country recognize the importance of student employees by celebrating National Student Employment Week. Student employees perform invaluable services with enthusiasm, dedication, and initiative. Although we aren’t able to come together on campus to celebrate our student employees this spring, we want to recognize them nonetheless.
Part of our annual celebration includes nominating a Student Employee of the Year and Graduate Assistant of the Year. The nominees are judge against the eight core competencies put forth by the National Association of College and Employers (NACE) – Communication, Digital Technology, Problem Solving, Professionalism/Work Ethic, Intercultural Fluency, Career Management, Leadership, and Teamwork.

Professor Cathy Day nominated Bruno and shared the following regarding his Critical Thinking skills, “Bruno's training in marketing has helped my team learn how to make better data-informed decisions. He's created spreadsheets for our weekly social media and blog audits that help us visualize our growth and set SMART goals. He remembers to gather this data without being reminded, spots the problems that arise, and he offers lots of ideas about how solve those problems. A few months ago, he took it upon himself to re-design our blog with a new theme in order to fix some of the usability problems we were having. I was so grateful, I didn't even know how to thank him.”
