SPA Seeking 2021-2022 Graduate Assistant (Communications/Marketing/Events)

Sponsored Projects Administration is now hiring a Marketing, Promotions, and Events graduate assistant for the 2021-2022 academic year. This assistantship will begin in fall 2021 with a desired start date in August 2021. The application deadline is May 29.

Description

Work with SPA office staff to create multimedia content (text, graphics, etc.) for, and to maintain, the SPA website, social media channels, BSU Communications Center, blog, and other outlets. Training will be provided on how to use the Sitecore content management system;

  • Design promotional materials for SPA and related events, such as posters, handouts, social media graphics, and office swag (content writing/graphic design);
  • Participate on the SPA Event Committee and collaborate on office event needs;
  • Attend University/office functions, acting as SPA photographer and scribe (may include evenings and weekends as needed);
  • Assist with communication and coordination with other departments on campus for events and promotions;
  • Assist SPA personnel in creating content (writing/photography/graphic design) for the office’s annual magazine and annual report;
  • Interface with University Marketing & Communications when appropriate;
  • If necessary, perform front of office duties
  • Complete other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Successful candidates should have experience in website management, desktop publishing (writing/graphics/layout), superior communication skills (both verbal and written), and be familiar with common principals of blogging and social media (on any platform). Video production and/or photography experience is a plus.

Candidates will be expected to interact with members of the campus community in an official capacity, and as such, exhibit a level of maturity and professionalism that will allow them to best represent themselves and SPA. Candidates must be able to work independently and problem solve, but also follow instructions as given. High levels of organization and time management are required.

Any student enrolled in a graduate degree program at Ball State University. Special consideration will be given to students with experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or digital design.
