- 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Dealing Professionally With Difficult People and Situations - Student Center Room 301-302
- What could be driving their behavior—and how to avoid making it worse
- Dealing with your own emotions in difficult situations
- How to cope positively with the person who is never happy
- Take a critical look at your own behavior to address that of others
January 26:
- 1 PM-2 PM: Staying Calm & Confident - Forum Room, Student Center
- Understand what causes emotional reactions
- Recognize emotional triggers in yourself and others
- Know the best ways to approach difficult discussions
- Describe what to do when a conversation turns into heated exchange
- Learn how to sidestep stress by creating a shared understanding
- Discuss damage control and how to move forward after an intense interaction
- 2:15 PM-4:15 PM: When Tempers Flare: De-Escalation Techniques - Forum Room, Student Center
- Defuse heated situations before they get out of hand
- Recognize the warning signs of a potential crisis situation
- Respond appropriately to the different stages of escalating conflict
- Know what words you should or shouldn’t say
- Mediate tense situations between third parties
