Harry Boyte f
ounded Public Achievement and has spent many years working in civic engagement, community organizing, and public work. Throughout his career, he has explored how people get involved in public life, connect across differences, and solve problems together. Communicating during disagreements or divisions takes real strategy. How can we listen to people who see things differently? How do communicators build trust? How do we talk about issues without putting people into opposing groups? And how can journalism and strategic communication invite participation instead of just talking to an audience?
Boyte has decades of experience with these questions. He worked as a field secretary with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference during the civil-rights movement, helped develop Public Achievement, and continues to focus on citizenship, public problem-solving, and democratic participation.
