School of Music events for the week of October 23

Join The School of Music this week as we present:  

Ball State Chamber Choir and Concert Choir
Sursa Hall, October 23rd at 3 p.m. 

The Ball State Chamber Choir and Concert Choir, conducted by Andrew Crow and Kerry Glann respectively, will begin this new season with a recital featuring pieces by William Mathias, George Shearing, and Jake Runestad, among others. Notably, this recital will feature compositions by four living women composers representing three generations of creative activity.

DA Recital: Daniel Thomas Watler, piano 
Sursa Hall, October 24th at 7:30 p.m. 

Daniel Thomas Watler will perform pieces by Mozart, Brahms, and Prokofiev. This event is free and open to the public.

Ball State Jazz Ensembles 
Sursa Hall, October 26th at 7:30 p.m. 

Enjoy a concert of standard jazz favorites and original compositions with the Ball State University Jazz Ensembles. The ensembles are under the direction of Mark Buselli and Freddie Mendoza.

Ball State Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony 
Sursa Hall, October 28th at 7:30 p.m. 

Under the direction of Cassidy Nalepa and Thomas Caneva, the Ball State Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble will perform pieces by Henry Filmore, John Mackey, Robert Jager, and Eric Whitacre, among others.

The Wind Ensemble is the premier concert ensemble of the Ball State band program. Its members are selected by audition from the most outstanding wind and percussion performers on the Ball State campus.

Comprised of approximately 50-65 undergraduate and graduate students who have attained an exceptional level of proficiency on their instruments, the Wind Symphony is the second auditioned ensemble in the Ball State band program.

Piano Palooza 
Sursa Hall, October 29th, All Day Event 

This concert features Ball State’s piano faculty performing compositions by Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, Béla Bartók, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Ball State student Julian Cain. 

Percussion Ensemble Recital 

Sursa Hall, October 30th at 7:30 p.m. 

Ball State Percussion Group performs music by Assad, Trevino, Miki, Venet, Eyles, Hisaishi, LaBozetta III, under the direction of YoungKyoung Lee.
