The School of Art is offering an exciting 3 credit hour course fall semester, titled Immersive Greenhouse Project, ART 370 (33064)!

This course will be an Immersive project that centers around the design, proposal, fabrication, and installation of art in public places.  We will be working in conjunction with the Orchid Greenhouse to design, propose, fabricate, and install architectural elements related to the renovation there.  This course will offer you real-world experience in design work, fabrication, as well as best business practices for individual artists doing contract and commission work. Despite it being centered in sculpture, these skills translate to artists working in nearly any media that will be useful to practicing artists and designers looking to work with community and private partners in their own practices post-graduation.

As a part of this process, you will engage with digital design tools for fabrication, use outside partnerships in the form of contracted fabricators, work directly with material in fabrication and design, and develop an overall understanding of managing the logistics of a large project amongst a team of individuals working collaboratively, both inside the team and with a client/partner outside of the team.

This class might also appeal to you if you intend to work in fields outside of art that frequently engage with design problems and art practices (Architecture, Landscape Architecture, etc.)

This course meets Monday and Wednesday from 4:00 pm - 6:45 pm.  Please email Michael Lorsung mlorsung@bsu.edu for special permission.
