"Rise Above" 2021 Auditions!

February 23, 2021

Hello Ball State!

Submissions and cast are needed for this season’s production of “Rise Above.” Previously The Vagina Monologues, this new iteration of the show highlights issues of gender and racial violence in our local community, whether that be in connection with political instability, armed conflict, xenophobia, unsafe working conditions, transphobia, homophobia, racism, gender and sexuality, identity, or the changing socio-political climate.

Submissions can come in the form of monologues, songs, poetry, music, or short personal essays, artwork. Individual performances 3-5 minutes long. If you are not comfortable performing your own piece, someone can be casted to perform it for the show, crediting the author. If you do not want to submit a piece but still wish to perform, you can audition to be a cast member as well. Casting is open to folks of all gender identities.

Performance submission should be submitted via emailed as video or audio file. Submissions intended to be casted can be sent as a Word document or pdf, if desired.

Please email your submissions and auditions by Tuesday, March 9th.

If you are interested in auditioning to be in the cast, please submit email jrwalls@bsu.edu for audition materials.

Performance is on March 26 at 7pm, over ZOOM.

Email jrwalls@bsu.edu for submissions.
