Retirement of Dina Byrnes from Emens

February 10, 2020
Following a tenure exceeding 26.5 years of service to Ball State University, it is with tremendous gratitude and profound best wishes that I share the news of Dina Byrnes’ retirement effective February 28, 2020.

The staff of the John R. Emens College-Community Auditorium warmly invite and strongly encourage friends and colleagues to join us for a reception on Tuesday, February 25 from 3pm to 5:30pm in the Ball Brothers Foundation Hospitality Suite on the balcony level at Emens Auditorium as we celebrate the career of Dina Byrnes. Light refreshments will be provided.

After serving in capacities coordinating recreation programs at both Old Miss and the University of Virginia, Dina was recruited along with her husband Dan Byrnes by Director of Sports Facilities, Tom Morrison and subsequently relocated to Muncie. Dina worked as event manager for BSU sports facilities from August of ’93 through August of ’99. In September of ’99, Dina transitioned to event management for the performing arts facilities of Emens Auditorium and Pruis Hall. Dina’s strong work ethic, attention to detail, good nature, patience, and ability to cope with the never-ending changes intrinsic to this dynamic work environment have been vital to the successful operations and growth of this department. Further, a litany of student employees and graduate assistants can attest to her thoughtful and professional approach to their personal development as event staff.

Ball State University has benefited greatly from Dina’s leadership, loyalty, dedication, energy and enthusiasm. Please join me in sharing best wishes to Dina as she embarks upon this new and well-earned chapter of life.
