Please consider participating in a Nutrition and Health Science research study. Free health data and compensation are available. Your participation can help us better understand how sugar from mangos versus standard table sugar influence metabolic markers (e.g. blood sugar) and vascular health after breakfast meals (IRB-FY2025-25).
We will ask you to complete a screener and four additional in-lab visits. At the screening visit we will explain the study and complete several one-time measurements (e.g., blood pressure, BMI). During the other four visits, we will ask you to consume a breakfast meal containing oats or cornflakes that will be sweetened with either table sugar or mangos. At the study visits, we will collect blood samples and perform measurements related to your vascular health. The total in-lab time commitment is ~14.5 hours over the five visits. Additionally, you will be asked to wear a physical activity tracker and record your diet prior to each visit.
By completing our study, you will receive free health information such as:
- Body composition (e.g., body fat %) and bone density with DXA
- Measures of vascular health
- Metabolic markers (e.g., cholesterol, blood sugar)
You will also receive a $400 Tango gift card for completing all study visits. Compensation will not be prorated if you withdraw from the study. In other words, you will only receive the $400 gift card if you complete all study visits. Initial screening criteria include age of 18-45 years, and a BMI of 18.5-35.0 kg/m2 (calculate BMI here: https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm). We are flexible with scheduling and have free/convenient parking; however, visits must begin in the morning ~6-9 AM. We will also ask you to arrive fasted (~10 hours) before eating each breakfast meal.
