Dear student,
My name is Kevin Patrick and I am a doctoral student in the College of Education at Illinois State University. Under the supervision of Dr. Dianne Gardner Renn, I am inviting you to participate in a study for my dissertation that explores the perceptions held by adult undergraduates enrolled in traditional four-year universities with respect to support, so we can better understand their experiences. The goal of this study is to develop recommendations that will help create a more supportive environment for adult undergraduates. The study will address the following research questions:
(1). What are adult undergraduates’ experiences and perceptions of support while enrolled at a traditional four-year university?
(2). What do adult undergraduates perceive their school can do to better support them?
(3). How does institutional type affect adult undergraduates perceptions and experiences of support?
Eligible participants must be 25 years of age or older, enrolled part-time or full-time in an undergraduate program, and meet one or more of the following criteria: have family, civic, and/or employment responsibilities in addition to being a student; experienced a period of a year or more when they were not attending college; be financially independent from parents.
After completing the questionnaire, eligible participants will be invited to participate in an interview and will receive a $10 Amazon gift card at the conclusion of the interview as fair compensation for their time. Participants who complete all required tasks for the study will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 Amazon gift card.
If you would like to complete the questionnaire, please follow the link below. Also, please pass this link on to others who might qualify and be willing to complete the questionnaire:
