Register Now for Data Privacy Day on February 1!

On February 1, 2023 Ball State University will celebrate Data Privacy Day (observed on January 28, 2023). Please join us in creating awareness about the importance of respecting privacy of students and safeguarding data as it pertains to educational records and our everyday lives.  

To celebrate Data Privacy Day, we are launching a Passport Program that encourages students, faculty, and staff to learn about the role they play in promoting data privacy and security. Once you have completed the passport, you will earn a Cardinal Confidentiality Champion digital badge to be placed with your electronic signature on your Ball State email address. 

To complete the Passport and become a Cardinal Confidentiality Champion, you must: 

  • Complete the Phishing Training located in EduRisk which can be found on your my.bsu.edu page under the Additional Tools heading.
  • Complete the FERPA Training located in EduRisk which can be found on your my.bsu.edu page under the Additional Tools heading.
  • Complete the Technology Scavenger Hunt
  • Complete one of the following options (You have the opportunity to register for one of these webinars on Data Privacy Day, February 1):
    • Attend Tech Talks with Tobey
    • Play FERPA Jeopardy
