For a smooth and timely printing process, please follow these key guidelines for timelines, files, and branding.
1. Plan Your Timeline
Production begins only after we receive your proof approval. A quick response is essential to maintain your deadline.
Simple Digital Printing: 5 business days.
Complex Digital & Large Format Printing: 5–7 business days.
Offset Printing (usually 5,000+ pieces): 10–14 business days.
Note: Special finishing such as die-cutting or foil stamping requires extra time.
2. Prepare Your Files Correctly
Proper file preparation saves time and improves the quality of the final product.
Color: Design your file in CMYK mode if possible as RGB and HEX colors are not suitable for the printing process.
Bleed & Safety Margin: Include a 0.125-inch bleed for designs that extend to the page edge, and keep all text within the safety margin to avoid trimming.
File Format: Submit packaged Adobe InDesign files or single-page layout PDFs. Avoid using PNG image formats.
3. Adhere to Ball State Branding
All university-affiliated work must follow the official Brand Guidelines.
Ball State Red: Use the approved CMYK formula: 3% Cyan, 100% Magenta, 70% Yellow, and 12% Black.
Approved Fonts: Use of approved fonts (Helvetica Neue, Acumin Pro, Ivy Presto) is highly encouraged.
Guidelines: Find the full brand resources at bsu.edu/marketing-communications/brand-resources.
