President Mearns joins celebrity cast for Indianapolis Repertory Theatre fundraiser

March 04, 2021
Ball State University President Geoffrey S. Mearns will join an all-star cast for Indianapolis Repertory Theatre’s celebrity radio show, “Shakespeare Thou Art on Mute.”

The humorous show will not be broadcast on traditional radio. Instead, the audio performance will stream online at 7:30 p.m. on March 12, with tickets costing $30 per household to access the virtual event.

Proceeds will benefit the IRT’s mission to produce professional, top-quality theater for all ages.

In addition to the President’s involvement, Ball State is also a Gold Sponsor for the event. “Shakespeare Thou Art on Mute” is just one example of the many ways Ball State supports the arts in Indiana.

“Shakespeare Thou Art on Mute” combines The Bard, Zoom, basketball, silent auctions and witty jingles. The cast consists entirely of well-known Hoosiers and includes Indianapolis Colts General Manager Chris Ballard, radio personality Tom Griswold of “The Bob and Tom Show,” Indianapolis philanthropist Marianne Glick, and more.
