?Prepare for the Cardinal Job Fair

February 04, 2021

Employment recruiters want to hire more college students and graduates this year, so be sure to plan ahead for the Virtual Cardinal Job Fair on Wednesday, February 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Cardinal Career Link.

Here are some tips for when you attend the job fair:

  1. Read these instructions on how to register and navigate the virtual fair. Instructions for BSU Virtual Job Fair
  2. Dress like you would for an interview. First impressions are important, so be thoughtful when selecting an outfit for the fair.
  3. Have your résumé approved through VMock and uploaded prior to the fair. This is the only way you will be able to pass your résumé to employers during the fair.
  4. Introduce yourself and be prepared to give your “career pitch”.
  5. Have your camera on during 1:1 chats with employers. Find BSU virtual backgrounds HERE. Make sure to test your audio and camera before the fair.
  6. Research the employers who will be attending prior to the career fair. Discover which employers are attending and learn about the fair on Cardinal Career Link.
  7. Collect employer contact information. The job fair is a great networking opportunity and this will help you follow up with your favorite employers 24-48 hours after the job fair.
  8. Be Enthusiastic. Everyone loves to meet someone who is excited about what they do.
  9. Connect with a Career Coach. Setting up an appointment with a Career Coach is a great way to get additional advice before the fair. You can schedule an appointment on Cardinal Career Link.

Don’t forget to have your résumé reviewed before the fair! Upload your résumé to VMock, our 24/7 online résumé review tool that leverages technologies like data science, machine learning, and natural language processing to provide instant, personalized feedback on your résumé based on criteria gathered from employers and global best practices. Find VMock instructions HERE. Access VMock by logging in to Cardinal Career Link.

We look forward to seeing you there!
