Peace Ctr Supports BSU College Republicans and Democrats Special Joint Statement on Civil Discourse
The Advisory Board of the Ball State University Peace Center enthusiastically supports the September 21, 2025, College Republicans and College Democrats at Ball State University statement entitled, Special Joint Statement on Civil Discourse. In part their statement read:
“We, the undersigned board members of the College Democrats and College Republicans at Ball State University come together for a special select statement and write to express our shared conviction that political violence, rhetoric inciting political violence, and rhetoric that glorifies political violence has no place in our academic community or in our democratic society as a whole.”
“We call upon all members of our campus community, students, faculty, administrators, and fellow citizens to recommit themselves to the values of respectful discourse, open dialogue, and peaceful disagreement. Our differences of opinion, when expressed constructively, are not threats but opportunities for growth and mutual understanding.”
“In this spirit, we pledge to continue building spaces where ideas may be freely exchanged, where disagreements are engaged in a civil way, and where the dignity of every participant is respected.”
We hope the statement issued by the BSU College Republicans and College Democrats will be supported by many more units/organizations affiliated with Ball State University.
We welcome the opportunity to partner with our College Republicans and College Democrats in hosting activities to promote and enact the critical and timely vision they have articulated.
