Patricia Clark Sabbatical Lecture

December 09, 2020
The first event in the 2020-2021 Teachers College Dean's Lecture Series takes place on Thursday, December 10, from 4-5 p.m. with Dr. Patricia Clark's presentation: "The Power of Community-Engaged Teacher Preparation."

Patricia Clark, along with colleagues from Teachers College, edited a book on community-engaged teacher education, which will be published by Teachers College Press in 2021. The book highlights teacher education programs from around the country and abroad that have focused on forming collaborative relationships with communities in order to better prepare teachers who are culturally responsive and equity-focused. Pat will share excerpts and examples from the book to demonstrate the wide variety of approaches to engaging community in preparing teachers, as well as the potential impact on candidates, faculty and communities.

Dr. Patricia Clark is Professor of Early Childhood Education, and co-founder of the Schools Within the Context of Community, a community-engaged program of teacher preparation at Ball State University. She has presented extensively at national conferences and has published numerous articles on early childhood education and diversity. She is committed to preparing future teachers who engage with the communities they serve in order to provide education that focuses on social justice and equity for all.
