Parking Rules and Regulations Reminder

October 26, 2026
Happy Fall Semester! As we settle into the middle of the term, this is a great time for a quick reminder of Ball State's parking rules and regulations to keep things running smoothly. If you have any questions, the Office of Parking Services is happy to help at 765-285-1208 or parking@bsu.edu.

To park on campus, all vehicles must display a valid Ball State parking permit during enforcement hours.

Permit Parking Locations

Commuter Permits are valid only in:
  • Green commuter lots
  • Scheumann Stadium, overflow lots, and the Oakwood Building lot

Residence Hall Permits are valid only in:
  • The assigned blue residence hall lot
  • Scheumann Stadium, overflow lots, and the Oakwood Building lot

Restricted Permits are valid only in:
  • The assigned red restricted lot
  • Any green commuter lot
  • Scheumann Stadium, overflow lots, and the Oakwood Building lot

Stadium Permits are valid only in:
  • Scheumann Stadium, overflow lots, and the Oakwood Building lot

Anthony and Scheidler Apartment lots are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Vehicles parked at Scheidler or Anthony Apartments without an apartment permit or apartment visitor permit may be towed at the owner's expense.

  • Apartment Residents - Each resident on the lease is required to purchase at least a commuter permit in order to be issued an apartment permit. Once a commuter permit has been purchased, the resident should send an email request, including Ball State ID number to parking@bsu.edu.

  • Apartment Visitors - Apartment visitor permits are available at no charge from the University Apartments Office. The resident acting as host must request the parking permit for any guest.

Additional Reminders

  • There is no overnight parking in commuter lots or parking garages from 3:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Residence hall students who have a valid permit in a parking garage may park in their assigned lot overnight.

  • Your license plate must be visible. Do not back into or pull through a parking space unless your vehicle has a front license plate.

  • Students may not register a vehicle belonging to another student, employee, or another student or employee's family member. Doing so will result in parking privilege revocation.

  • Students may not purchase or use a visitor permit. Violations will result in the revocation of parking privileges.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep campus parking accessible for everyone.
