BIG NEWS-- Ball State is the newest member of the National Student Exchange (nse.org), which means BSU students now have access to any of the 177 other member campuses across the USA & Canada. You can spend a semester or a year away with NSE!

How it works: stay enrolled at BSU, live and study at one of the member campuses-- it's like a foreign exchange program, except it's domestic. The 178 campus options are in 49 US states, plus Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Canada. Campuses include research institutions, liberal arts colleges, historically black colleges and universities (HBCU), land-grant, sea-grant, sun-grant, space-grant, Hispanic serving institutions (HSI), private schools, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-serving (AANAPISI). Settings in big cities, small towns, islands, mountains and everything in between. Language of instruction isn't limited to English-- you can take your classes in Spanish in Puerto Rico or in French in Quebec.

Why do it: so many benefits! You can take classes that might not be available here, study with new professors/experts in your field, investigate graduate schools, pursue research/internship opportunities, live in a different geographic and cultural setting, make connections in a new job market, or prepare yourself to live and work in a culturally diverse society

High cost: no! This program is designed to be accessible to all BSU students. You will continue paying your regular BSU tuition and fees during your exchange (so if you're in-state here, you're still in-state there, even if you exchange to Alaska). Financial aid is processed at home. Room and board is the only item paid at the host school. The fee to participate is just $250.

What next: Now is a great time to explore placement options for Fall 2024! Priority placement applications are accepted from December 1 to March 1. To get more information, register for a virtual info session hosted by NSE Friday, December 1 from 2-3pm Eastern or Thursday December 7 from 1-2pm Eastern and/or attend our first ever NSE info session at BSU in person at the Rinker Center for Global Affairs (inside Student Center) on Monday, December 4th at 3:30pm.
