The Ball State English Department is proud to host Practical Criticism Midwest. This hybrid conference, just for Ball State students, is a chance for you to present your scholarly work and gain great academic and professional experience! Both upper-level undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit a proposal to present their scholarly work, including creative pieces, research studies, and teaching materials. We are currently accepting poster proposals, as well as individual and group panel proposals.
The Spring 2024 theme is Places and Spaces: Blueprints for Community. With this theme, we invite students to consider how the communities they participate in are shaped both physically and socially. For more information, you can view the full Call for Proposals here. Though this is an English Department event, we encourage all majors to share the work being done in their disciplines as it relates to this theme. There is no registration fee for this event.
The proposal requires the title and abstract of the presentation (300 words max) and a brief bio (150 words max). Proposals can be submitted here by January 12th, 2024. Submissions are open to all students who will be enrolled during the Spring 2024 semester at Ball State University. The conference will be on March 15, 2024.
