February 07, 2022

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2022 A. Jane Morton Award.

This annual award recognizes active full-time exempt and non-exempt staff personnel who have been University employees for at least five years and have displayed a continual demonstration of outstanding efforts to all segments of the University community. This year the award will be presented to the winner at a small reception at a date to be determined. The A. Jane Morton award honoree will receive a framed and engraved print and a monetary award of $1,000.

Any University employee (co-workers, supervisor, faculty, or retiree) may nominate an eligible staff member for this award. The nomination form can be found by clicking here. Nominations are being accepted until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022.

A. Jane Morton was employed by the Office of Academic Research and Sponsored Programs (now the Sponsored Projects Administration) for 25 years. Jane was more than dedicated to her job responsibilities; she had extensive knowledge of virtually all the academic disciplines on campus, and was active in numerous Ball State organizations.

Among Jane’s notable achievements: she developed a format for an in-service training program for new employees; helped revise the Secretarial Procedures Handbook; was concerned with salary and employee benefits of staff personnel; was involved in church activities; and volunteered many hours to WIPB and Ball Memorial Hospital.

Jane’s legacy to Ball State University is this annual award that recognizes one active staff employee for best emulating her expectations of excellence through service.
