February 20-NOMAS Film Series presents Babel

February 17, 2020

Make plans to attend the airing of Babel with your friends and colleagues on Thursday, February 20, at 6:00 PM in the Architecture Building-AB202. The NOMAS Film Series offers the weekly showing of a movie or documentary for everyone's entertainment and insight. As part of our mission, The National Organization of Minority Architecture Students (NOMAS) explores topics of diversity, inclusion, and social and environmental justice. The NOMAS Film Series serves to draw attention to these topics through the medium of film.

Babel* stars Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Gael García Bernal, Mohamed Akhzam, and Peter Wight. This multi-narrative psychological drama is written by Guillermo Arriaga and directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu. Babel completes the writer and director's Death Trilogy, following the films Amores Perros and 21 Grams. The trilogy is deeply rooted in humanistic relations and values, putting its characters in situations that test human frailty, ethics, resilience, and redemption. From Morocco to Japan, Mexico, and the United States, Babel weaves a common thread through multiple storylines. The film examines relationships and the role of government and its behavior toward people in the lower socioeconomic class across multiple countries, showing how one human action can scale to have a global impact.

*Babel contains a momentary scene with nudity; however, there is no sexual intimacy in the film.
