New Spring 2026 Course: ADPR 398 - Special Topics in Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) Brand Promotion

November 03, 2025

The School of Journalism and Strategic Communication is offering an exciting Special Topics course in sports, advertising, and public relations for Spring 2026.

This course explores the history of athlete empowerment at both collegiate and professional levels and examines how social media has transformed the sports landscape. Students will analyze how digital platforms drive Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) activity, review data from the early years of NIL, and discuss emerging trends shaping the future of athlete branding and communication.

No prior coursework in advertising or public relations is required — students from all majors are welcome. Although ADPR 250 is typically a prerequisite for courses in the advertising sequence, this special topic will include an override option for interested students without that background.
