New Opportunity: Faculty Fellow for High Impact Practices (HIPs)

We are happy to announce that we are accepting applications for a Spring and Summer 2026 HIPs faculty fellow. Creating capacity, quality, fidelity, and access in high impact practices is essential to reach Ball State's strategic imperative that all undergraduate students take a high impact course. This faculty fellow will be a key player in these efforts. 

The faculty fellowship will focus on:

Faculty Development: Creating and curating resources (1) for advanced faculty development on HIPs and (2) for producing scholarship on high impact/community-engaged teaching. Additionally, this person will develop related programming and consult with faculty.

Program Administration Support: Partnering with the Director of High Impact Practices to manage and improve existing resources and programming on HIPs, including mini-courses, scholarships, awards, recognitions, grants, and events. 

The successful candidate will have these credentials: 

  • Full-time faculty member with a minimum of a master’s degree who has taught for at least five years
  • Experience/interest in a faculty leadership role and/or creating resources for faculty
  • Experience teaching high impact classes
  • Success in collaborative work environments
  • Manages time well and meets deadlines 

Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Tenure-track or tenured faculty with HIPs teaching experience  
  • Terminal degree  
  • Demonstrated excellence in mentoring or collaborating with other faculty on HIPs.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A record of scholarly work (publications, conference presentations) related to the effectiveness, assessment, or implementation of HIPs or community-engaged teaching. 

The faculty fellow will receive a course release or a stipend each term and the possibility of renewal for the 2026-27 academic year. Interested candidates must secure approval from both their department chair and academic dean prior to appointment.
