Museum Accepting Applications for Fall 2026 Interns

April 30, 2026

Applications for a Fall 2026 internship at the David Owsley Museum of Art (DOMA) will be accepted May 1 through June 30.

A museum internship is a semester-long, project-based, structured learning experience. It should be relevant to both the intern’s stated academic and professional goals as well as the museum’s needs. DOMA internships are paid, provide hands-on, practical experience for Ball State University students interested in exploring the museum field, and are available for course credit if coordinated with an advisor in advance. An internship is at least 150 hours and must be completed over the course of the semester during normal business hours at DOMA.

Internships in collection management, curatorial research and planning, museum education, social media/marketing, video/media production, and exhibition design and installation are often offered depending upon museum needs and projects for the semester. Successful applicants may come from any major or discipline, but a strong interest in art is preferred. Hired interns will attend a museum orientation at the beginning of the semester.

Ball State students interested in an internship at DOMA will need to submit a cover letter, resume, and transcript. Apply first through the Workday Jobs Hub; find the "Museum of Art Intern" posting under Student Employment Positions and follow the additional instructions section for a link to fill out a required questionnaire and to upload materials. Applicants chosen for an interview will be notified via their Ball State email address, and interviews can be done virtually.

This opportunity is open to Ball State students enrolled in Fall 2026 classes. Learn more about the DOMA intern experience with this video, and contact Rachel Buckmaster with questions.
