Museum Accepting Applications for Fall 2021 & Spring 2022 Interns

June 01, 2021

Applications for a Fall 2021 or Spring 2022 internship at the David Owsley Museum of Art (DOMA) will be accepted through Friday, June 18.

A museum internship is a semester-long, project-based, structured learning experience. It should be relevant to both the intern’s stated academic and professional goals as well as the museum’s needs. DOMA internships are paid, provide hands-on, practical experience for Ball State University students interested in exploring the museum field, and are available for course credit if the student wishes. An internship is at least 150 hours and must be completed over the course of the semester during normal business hours at DOMA (8a – 5p, Monday – Friday).

Internships in collection management, curatorial research and planning, museum education, social media/marketing, video/media production, and exhibition design and installation are often offered depending upon museum needs and projects for the semester. Successful applicants may come from any major or discipline, but a strong interest in art is preferred.

Ball State students interested in an internship at DOMA must first visit the Cardinal Career Link and obtain a Student Employment Referral for posting #10627. The Career Center will then provide additional application instructions for submitting materials (including a cover letter, resume, transcript, and two professional or academic letters of reference).

Note: Interns must sign and submit the Ball State University Background Check Consent and Release Form, complete university-required online training, and attend a museum intern orientation at the beginning of the semester.
