Midterm Grades & Progress Reporting - Thank you for your efforts this semester!

November 02, 2026
Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your tremendous efforts supporting our students through this fall's Midterm Grades and Progress Reporting initiative! Your participation helps us celebrate student achievement, identify students who may need additional support, and connect students with the resources and encouragement they need to be successful.

I'm delighted to share a few highlights from this semester:

  • 93.1% of midterm grades and progress reports were submitted, a new record and an increase of 2.8 percentage points over Spring 2026!
  • 19,612 midterm progress report responses were recorded, providing valuable information about students' academic progress.
  • 11,376 Kudos alerts (58%) recognized students who are doing well in their courses. More than half of our responses were positive affirmations of student progress!
  • Faculty also identified important opportunities for support, including 5,321 coursework concerns (27.1%), 3,225 attendance concerns (16.4%), and 1,682 poor quiz/test grade concerns (8.6%).

What I find especially encouraging is that faculty are using midterm reporting not only to identify challenges but also to recognize and affirm students who are doing well. These positive messages matter. They remind students that their efforts are noticed and reinforce the behaviors that contribute to academic success.

Equally important, the concerns you identified are helping our academic advisors, success coaches, and student support professionals engage students in timely conversations about their progress. Our teams are actively conducting outreach, connecting students with resources, and helping them navigate challenges while there is still time to make a difference this semester.

We also know the process wasn't without its challenges.

Some of you encountered difficulties with submission links or needed reports reset to make corrections. I recognize the frustration and additional work these issues created, and I sincerely appreciate your patience and persistence. We are reviewing these challenges with our campus partners and identifying improvements to make the Spring 2027 reporting experience more intuitive, reliable, and efficient.

Thank you again. Your work really matters.

Midterm reporting is about more than collecting grades and identifying concerns. It is one of the ways we demonstrate to students that we see them, recognize their efforts, and care about their success. Your willingness to engage in this process makes that possible.

With gratitude,
