Through a critical feminist inquiry, Dr. Michelle Glowacki-Dudka examined 14 mid-career women leaders and how they have developed leadership qualities that support agency, empowerment, self-esteem, and self-worth that provides courage and perseverance in a variety of challenging situations. She explored three aspects of their identity where imposter syndrome or backlash could be identified: 1) work: level of professional or personal; 2) home: gender roles and relationships; 3) school or education. Join us as Dr. Glowacki-Dudka reviews her findings, including a follow-up as to how their understanding of their roles shifted with COVID-19.
Dr. Michelle Glowacki-Dudka has been working in the field of adult education since 1995. She is active in teaching, service, and research, which centers on building communities of learners in multiple settings. She is active with AAACE as an editor of the Future1s Column in Adult Learning Quarterly (AL), a SIG chair for Sustainability and Environmental Education, and a reviewer for AEQ, AL, and New Horizons. She has co-authored a how-to-book about teaching interactive online groups and a New Directions series book about embracing the margins of adult education, and multiple articles and conference papers.
