Frankenstein is infamous as the mad scientist who created a monster. He is also, however, a son, a husband, and a father who let loose his creation upon society. This lecture explores what Shelley’s novel can tell us about rights and responsibilities in the family.
Dr. Caroline Breashears is a Professor of English at St. Lawrence University. Dr. Breashears specializes in 18th-century British literature. Her current research focuses on Adam Smith and literature. She teaches courses on fairy tales, 18th-century British Literature, and Jane Austen.
