On Thursday, October 15, join the
David Owsley Museum of Art in welcoming Alison Amick,
Chief Curator and Senior Director of Special Exhibitions at Intuit Art Museum in Chicago, for a public talk on outsider and folk art and Ball State alumna Jan Petry.
DOMA's current special exhibition Jan Petry's Gift: Outsider and Folk Art in the Museum features more than two dozen works of art from the estate of advertising executive, collector, curator, and artist Jan Petry, ’61. As part of her legacy, Jan donated her art collection to Intuit Art Museum and DOMA. Jan championed outsider and folk art, broad categories often described in contested and overlapping terms as self-taught, visionary, naïve, popular, or vernacular. This event is free and open to the public with no registration required. A 5:00pm reception in DOMA's Sculpture Court and a chance to view "Jan Petry's Gift" will precede the 6:00pm talk in the museum's Recital Hall.
