Today the Division of Online and Strategic Learning (DOSL) announces Kathy Jacobi’s promotion to the director of faculty development.
Kathy has been a Ball State employee for 14 years and has had a special focus on her commitment to faculty. As a member of the teaching innovation team within DOSL, Kathy has led initiatives that continue to impact faculty in powerful ways. This includes DOSL and university-wide initiatives such as the Peer Review of Teaching Program, Mid-Term Feedback Service, several Faculty Learning Communities and Communities of Practice, Active Learning Academy, and so much more. As an instructor herself, Kathy practices what she preaches, and knows first-hand the evolving needs of our faculty communities.
Previously assistant director of faculty engagement, Kathy brought her knowledge of teaching practice and active learning strategies to the table each and every day. In this new position, Kathy will have an even larger impact on the ways in which Ball State faculty explore and assess learning theory, instructional approaches, and assessment strategies across modalities and platforms.
Kathy earned her Ph.D. in music education with a minor in language, reading, and culture from the University of Arizona. In addition to serving DOSL, Kathy periodically teaches for the Department of Educational Studies and the School of Music.
The Division of Online and Strategic Learning provides support and assessment for technology-enhanced teaching and learning for on-campus, online, and blended courses and programs. Our aim is to establish an institute of good practice that all faculty will find useful, formidable, and essential to their aspirations of excellence in teaching.
