Two weeks from today, Ball State University will welcome Minnijean Brown-Trickey, a member of the historic Little Rock Nine, for a special Constitution Week presentation.
In 1957, at just 16 years old, Brown-Trickey helped integrate Little Rock Central High School under the protection of federal troops. Her courage placed her at the center of one of the defining struggles for constitutional rights, educational opportunity, and racial equality in American history.
This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from a civil rights icon and living witness to history. Brown-Trickey will reflect on her experiences and consider a question that remains urgent today: What does the work of democracy require of students, educators, and citizens?
