Judges needed for the 2023 Student Symposium!

January 31, 2023

The 28th Annual Student Symposium hosted by Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) is quickly approaching, and we are looking for judges. This year’s Symposium is being held Tuesday, April 11 at Worthen Arena Concourse. Judges need to be available in-person on April 11 between 12:45PM and 3PM to review exhibits during the Symposium itself (1PM-4PM).

Judges will have the opportunity to speak with student scholars during the evaluation process. Judging will take place electronically on a mobile device (If you don’t have a tablet or other mobile device with Wi-Fi and a browser app, we can provide one to you). Both of these updates are major changes from our previous event processes.

The Student Symposium challenges students to present a creative or scholarly project while competing for scholarship awards and gaining valuable insight from faculty and staff judges. The symposium provides opportunity for students to learn from each other about the topics that are most engaging to them, discussing their work with a broader audience beyond the classroom. You can learn more about the symposium at our website.

Note that registration for the Symposium ends on February 28th - please encourage your students to participate!

Please indicate your willingness and availability at this link by March 15th. Any questions you have can be directed to stusymposium@bsu.edu.

We appreciate your consideration to serve in this capacity and are grateful for the support you provide to your students and to SPA. All judges will receive letters of service recognition from the Vice Provost for Research.
