Student Athlete Support Services (SASS), at Ball State University, is now accepting applications for hourly student-mentors.  As a mentor, you will work closely with our Learning Specialist and Secretary to Director to ensure a productive study and learning environment for student athletes.  

While some duties are standard, there is also flexibility to ensure a rewarding experience during your time with our program.  

If selected, you will work one on one or in small groups with our most at-risk students, provide leadership to our undergraduate student employees and support full-time staff. We have a diverse population of students who need assistance with things like organization, developing positive study habits, time management, and basic navigation through the academic expectations of a student athlete.

Position Time Frame: Academic Year preferred (but will consider fall semester only). 

Graduate students are preferred, but Junior or Senior applicants may also be considered if they have a 3.5 or above GPA, exceptional qualifications, specialized training, previous mentoring experience, or other pertinent experience, as deemed appropriate, by SASS staff.   

Salary Range: 12.00 hourly

Graduate students with assistantships in a different department may work an additional 9 hours within SASS at $12/hour to supplement their stipend with assistantship-granting, program approval.  

Schedule:  Mentors may work up to 20 hours per week and while schedules are "set" each semester, applicants should expect to work a mix of day/night/Sunday shifts. 

Regular hours are Monday through Thursday 9am - 5pm and 7pm - 10pm. Sunday hours are 7pm - 10pm. We are typically 100% in-person, but occasionally utilize hybrid schedules based on program need.
