Ball State's Office of Information Technology is aware of a cybersecurity incident affecting Instructure, the company that provides our Canvas learning management system. This is a nationwide issue affecting a significant portion of higher education institutions.
Data potentially involved appears limited to names, email addresses, and student ID numbers. At this time, there is no indication that passwords, financial information, or government identifiers were compromised, or that Ball State credentials were exposed.
Canvas remains fully operational. Instructure's investigation is ongoing, and we will share updates as more information becomes available.
As always, be cautious of phishing attempts, including those referencing Canvas or password resets. Ball State will never ask for your password via email.
