Will you and your students be presenting on an Immersive Learning project this spring or summer?
The Office of Immersive Learning is pleased to announce a call for grant proposals that support virtual conference registrations for faculty and undergraduate students presenting on immersive learning projects. You may be eligible for up to $1,500 per conference to supplement your faculty and student registration needs.
With the current university travel restrictions and precautions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Office of Immersive Learning is amending its travel grant program to focus on virtual presentations. Presentations must be on an immersive learning project completed the semester before the conference date. All virtual presentations must be completed before June 1, 2021, and you must provide evidence of an official invitation from a national conference or workshop planning committee. Funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. As conditions change, support for in-person conference registrations and other travel expenses may be supported at a later date. Watch for future updates via the Communications Center.
While faculty alone are eligible for these awards, priority will be given to proposals where students will present directly on their project(s) or participate in the faculty mentor's presentation.
To apply, please see the online submission form.
Any questions, please contact Suzanne Plesha, Director of Immersive Learning, or call the Office of Immersive Learning at 285-2790.
Note: Funds cannot be used for opportunities in the same semester as the project covered in your presentation. For example, if you are currently teaching an immersive learning course, this fund will not pay for a conference covering your project this semester, but you can request money to present in summer 2021.
Grants are awarded as a reimbursement after the conference or presentation has taken place. If this request is approved, you will receive notifications as to whether you will receive the full or partial amount requested. Upon notification, you may begin the registration process through your department. When the conference is over, your administrative coordinator will process the reimbursement and forward the completed TR to the Immersive Learning Office. Arrangements will then be made to transfer the reimbursement amount to your department up to the amount you were rewarded. If your registration costs exceed the award amount, your department will absorb that cost.
Only registrations for undergraduate students and their faculty will be permitted under this grant.
