Groundbreaking Ceremony for Village South Residential Development Set for June 13

June 04, 2025

All are invited to a groundbreaking ceremony for the Village South Residential Development at 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 13, at the intersection of West North Street and North Martin Street in Muncie.

This new housing development is part of the University’s broader revitalization plan for The Village, a public-private partnership with city leaders and private developers, including Trademark Construction, Schahet Hotels, and Fairmount Properties. The revitalization effort is transforming The Village into a dynamic district featuring new entertainment, residential, and dining spaces.

Trademark Construction will construct 17 new attached townhomes and eight new single-family homes in the Village South Residential Development site. The new properties will accommodate different homebuyer preferences and price points. The development also includes new green space, to be created by a partial vacancy of Dill Street. The first homes are expected to be available in 2026.

Construction is already underway on the University’s new Performing Arts Center and adjacent Cantio Hotel, both of which broke ground in November. More recently, construction began on a new Center for Innovation and Collaboration, located at the southeast intersection of Ashland Avenue and Martin Street, just south of the University’s Alderdice Gates.

Free, on-street parking is available along Calvert Street and Gilbert Street to the south and west. Metered parking is available along North Street and Dill Street north of the site. Ball State’s Student Center Parking Garage, meanwhile, is only three blocks away.

Kindly RSVP to the Office of the President by Tuesday, June 10, at rsvp@bsu.edu or 765-285-5555.
